New Camper Trailer and Tent

Very wet and windy today, bring on summer.

As I said before, we have a new camper trailer and a new tent. We tested it out for a week in the Flinders Ranges and it worked a treat. Only real problem so far is I think I need to put better latches on the slide out draws as they unlatch and slide out if we go on too bumpy roads. (not a good look).

Here are some pics of it:

One Hard Floor Camper

One annex giving heaps of room

One cool cool tent (yes i do like it)

Whilst camping we think we have found our next upgrade

No good as a off road me thinks.

One problem I found with getting a new camper was we lost a lot of storage. I have solved this by building a draw storage system for the back of the cruiser. It is a work in progress but performs perfectly. With some car carpet covering it, it should look the part. Also had to get a rear wheel carrier as I needed to get rid of the spare tyre from the back. Is it ever going to end. Ive worked out this 4wd thing. All the fun is in spending the money!

Anyway thats it for now. Will upload some cool pics next time of our Flinders trip and some other cool stuff I have just bought for the camper.

It's been a while.

Well, it has been quite a while since I last updated this site. I suppose I stopped as when we got back we didn't do much in the way of holidays that were very exciting.

That all ended in the last school holidays. Also a few things have changed in our camping hardware which I will get to in due course.

The main big thing that happened a little while after we got back from our big trip to the east coast was the Jayco. One day I was watching the progress of some gear I was selling on e-bay. I still had a bad taste in my mouth about the sh#t quality of the Jayco and decided to put it up for sale on e-bay. It was a bit of a joke at first as I did not think anyone would be interested in it. How wrong I was. It just goes to show how many people are out there planing on doing the grey nomad thing as I had 29 people watching the auction.
To cut a long story short, a nice couple from Mount Beauty in Victoria came over to our house at easter, paid me lots of money and drove away with the Jayco in tow. Yippee

We had a think about it and decided we didn't want to have a large van or camper as our storage space at home is very limited. We thought about going back to a tent but decided with two kids you would still need a trailer to cart everything around.

After lots of thinking and researching we have gone and purchased the following:

A very basic hard floor camper trailer for us to sleep in which is off road type. The kids will be sleeping in a Oztrail R5 30 second tent.

All I can say is the Oztrail tent is fantastic, does everything it says it does, is built very well and is worth every bit of its price (which is high for a tent, but you get what you pay for )

The hard floor camper is branded as a Liberty camper. It is very basic, made pretty rough but looks more expensive than it is, but works very well and is exactly what we want at this stage of our camping life. Being so basic it will be easy to modify and add some cool stuff to it. The best part is I have lots of money left over from the Jayco sale. I have already spent some of it which I will also show you in due course.

In my next post I will put some action shots of our set-up that we used in our family holiday to Rawnsley Park, Flinders Ranges which we did in the first week of the school holidays in July.

Bye for now
