Rawnsley Park

The first week of the July School Holidays saw us in Rawnsley Park next to Willpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges. It's a working farm that has branched out into the tourist trade and has quite a good caravan park. We stayed for a week and drove through some fantastic gorges and valleys. Following is some pictures of the Flinders around Willpena Pound.

on our way to climb Rawnsley Bluff

notice how much fun everyone is having, especially Sophie

It was a long walk but the view of Willpena Pound was worth it

Whilst we were in the Flinders, we had the opportunity to take a flight over Willpena Pound. I think it is the only way to see the amazing rock formations. The kids were pretty excited as it was the first time they had been in a plane.

I could keep adding more but I think you get the drift how speccy it looks.

Well that's all for now, I will add some more pics another day

Just a test

I'm testing a new program on my iTouch that allows me to write this blog on the go, so this message won't mean much

New Camper Trailer and Tent

Very wet and windy today, bring on summer.

As I said before, we have a new camper trailer and a new tent. We tested it out for a week in the Flinders Ranges and it worked a treat. Only real problem so far is I think I need to put better latches on the slide out draws as they unlatch and slide out if we go on too bumpy roads. (not a good look).

Here are some pics of it:

One Hard Floor Camper

One annex giving heaps of room

One cool cool tent (yes i do like it)

Whilst camping we think we have found our next upgrade

No good as a off road me thinks.

One problem I found with getting a new camper was we lost a lot of storage. I have solved this by building a draw storage system for the back of the cruiser. It is a work in progress but performs perfectly. With some car carpet covering it, it should look the part. Also had to get a rear wheel carrier as I needed to get rid of the spare tyre from the back. Is it ever going to end. Ive worked out this 4wd thing. All the fun is in spending the money!

Anyway thats it for now. Will upload some cool pics next time of our Flinders trip and some other cool stuff I have just bought for the camper.

Bye from the Bozwalds

It's been a while.

Well, it has been quite a while since I last updated this site. I suppose I stopped as when we got back we didn't do much in the way of holidays that were very exciting.

That all ended in the last school holidays. Also a few things have changed in our camping hardware which I will get to in due course.

The main big thing that happened a little while after we got back from our big trip to the east coast was the Jayco. One day I was watching the progress of some gear I was selling on e-bay. I still had a bad taste in my mouth about the sh#t quality of the Jayco and decided to put it up for sale on e-bay. It was a bit of a joke at first as I did not think anyone would be interested in it. How wrong I was. It just goes to show how many people are out there planing on doing the grey nomad thing as I had 29 people watching the auction.
To cut a long story short, a nice couple from Mount Beauty in Victoria came over to our house at easter, paid me lots of money and drove away with the Jayco in tow. Yippee

We had a think about it and decided we didn't want to have a large van or camper as our storage space at home is very limited. We thought about going back to a tent but decided with two kids you would still need a trailer to cart everything around.

After lots of thinking and researching we have gone and purchased the following:

A very basic hard floor camper trailer for us to sleep in which is off road type. The kids will be sleeping in a Oztrail R5 30 second tent.

All I can say is the Oztrail tent is fantastic, does everything it says it does, is built very well and is worth every bit of its price (which is high for a tent, but you get what you pay for )

The hard floor camper is branded as a Liberty camper. It is very basic, made pretty rough but looks more expensive than it is, but works very well and is exactly what we want at this stage of our camping life. Being so basic it will be easy to modify and add some cool stuff to it. The best part is I have lots of money left over from the Jayco sale. I have already spent some of it which I will also show you in due course.

In my next post I will put some action shots of our set-up that we used in our family holiday to Rawnsley Park, Flinders Ranges which we did in the first week of the school holidays in July.

Bye for now

Home Sweet Home

Well we arrived home yesterday. The holiday is now just a figment of our imagination. After leaving a place we can't remember the name, we drove through Melbourne and ended up at Port Fairy for the night.

We then went to our friends Deb and Karl for 2 nights. They manage a cattle farm at Tarpeena so the kids like to do the farm stuff when they are there.

Well hope everyone enjoyed our little trip, we did

Not Happy Jane Again

No wonder we can't compete with the Chinese in making anything these days. Anything Australia makes is crap (excuse my language). Thats what it seems anyway.

We have just arrived in a small town near Lakes Entrance in Victoria. We started putting up The House On Wheels and the support post that broke before has broken again. Exactly the same way as before. This is going to cause problems when we pack up as we may not be able to set up again and we are atleast 2 nights away from home and 1 night away from Debs.

Jayco has their factory at Dandenong and we are about 100km away from it. I am almost tempted to drive there on Monday and dump it on their doorstep and demand a new one. (like that would happen).

I'ts a real pain because it is going to push us behind as we were planning on going to Debs on the farm on Monday to stay for a couple of nights and pick up Tooey, then get back home by Wednesday to have a couple of days at home before school starts next week.

Anyway not your problem.

We had a fantastic day at Canberra. Everyone loved the War Memorial and Parliament House. The displays at the War Memorial are amazing.

After leaving Batemans Bay we followed the coast and ended up at a place called Cann River. It was about 100km before Lakes Entrance and was a small park on the side of the road. It was only $21.00 for the night and is owned by the Shire. If you blinked you would miss it but it was one of the best parks we have stayed in.

Speaking of Lakes Entrance, what a fantastic looking place. Pity we did not have toime to stay there. Maybe next time. Funny thats what we have been saying all down the NSW coast. So many great places to stay - maybe next time.

Anyway no pics tonight as not to happy. Also it is very cold here. It rained all day but is clear skys tonight.

Before I go just have to tell you a funny thing that happened to me today. I was setting up our van after chatting to a ni9ce couple next to us. I heard the lady ask "Do you want a cup of tea or a beer". I yelled out, "No thanks I'll be right".

Mitchell began rolling on the ground laughing, as was Jacqui and Sophie. As it turns out the lady was not talking to me, she was talking to her husband. (You had to be there)

Easy day

Not much to report today. We went for a drive along the coast. Noticed lots of rivers again and some very special spots to have a swim in.

Going to Canberra tomorrow.

Bye Bye
